Dualistic

Andreas Ort is a producer and DJ originally from Cambridge, now based in the Netherlands. After having voice & piano lessons from a young age, and initially disliking music theory, the 21-year old is ironically now studying a course in digital music production at The Consveratory in Haarlem!
Initially releasing his debut track as Dualistic on the VA ‘Access’ compilation on Limitless Recordings back in 2013, he then went onto release a number of tracks on Liquicity. His first release on our imprint saw him team up with Ayve & Zazu for Brave and Beauty (SV015). Having played at a number of high-profile events, Andreas is just as comfortable laying down a solid set of melodic rollers as he is pouring his heart into a DAW. With a debut EP in the works, you can be sure that there’s a lot more to come from this talented young Dutchman!

GLXY

Having been cited as ‘Ones To Watch For 2016’ by UKF at the start of last year, UK drum & bass duo GLXY are creating a real buzz with their soul-drenched style of production.

With both Tom and Jonathan having a rather varied knowledge and taste in music – which is clearly demonstrated in their tracks, the duo initially began working together during their time at the University of Leicester.

Their first proper offering under the alias was their Trinity single (SV012). From then, 2015 continued to bring them a string of releases with a host of labels, such as Soul Trader & Limitless. Meanwhile, their spine-tingling ‘Maze’ got released as part of MTA’s Winter Compilation in January 2016. Their effortlessly fluid sounds eventually influenced a collaboration with distinctive vocalist Belle Humble, and as a result the stunning ‘Lonely’ was born, rounding out their 4-track Exposed EP (SV018). The pair continued to go from strength to strength, bagging both an EP on the well-respected Spearhead Records, as well as an official remix for similar soul-touching contemporaries, Submotion Orchestra.

Through this diligent production ethic, and ever-emerging signature sound, the duo have gained support from the likes of London Elektricity, LSB, Murdock and Hugh Hardie. Alongside their work in the studio, GLXY have also been notching up DJ sets across the UK with their creative and style-switching approach to mixing, most notably at a number of Hospitality & Med School events amongst some of the most respected names in D&B.

Undoubtedly set to become an even more familiar name as the 2017 progresses, the smooth and richly melodic tones of GLXY are impossible to ignore.

Imba

Sam Hiscox, better known as Imba has been emerging onto the drum & bass scene for the last couple of years now, and is one to keep both eyes on. Spending the last few years quietly honing his production style by experimenting with many genres, and drawing influence from a multitude of artists such as Technimatic to Koan Sound, his diversity of creative input is apparent in his productions.

His first notable release was on Perth (AU) based Good Karma Music. Shimmering, evolving soundscapes sets the tone for this deeply emotive 2 track release. Emotive melodies and rich textured atmospheres are a testament to his skill in the studio and ability to capture the ear and speak to the soul. However, his sonic pallet doesn’t stop there – he’s also got quite a serious neurofunk and tech addiction that flares up from time to time, and spends a lot of his days in the studio making deep, dark noises for his more ‘headsy’ productions.

When it comes to conducting tones for the dance floor, Imba always delivers the goods no matter what the situation. He’s just as much at home rolling out soul-laced Liquid for 90 minutes as he is tearing off the roof with high-octane bass heavy monsters. Every set comes complete with loads of surprises in the form of his ever-growing library of home-baked VIPs that never fails to thrill those in attendance.

As 2016 comes to a close, Imba has even further refined his trademark lucid sound and racked up a considerable amount of new music ready for the new year. Armed with his fresh but familiar sonic style, timeless productions and intriguing direction, Imba is an emerging force that is set to stay on your radar for years to come…

In:Most

In:Most are an exciting pair of young producers based on two different sides of the globe. Josh Croft from Cambridge, and his Brisbane-based partner Bailey Greer have been causing a slow and steady storm in the DnB scene over the past 6 months, with some impressive collaborations & releases. After virtually meeting through SoundCloud, and both supporting & critiquing each other’s production, the pair decided to start their In:Most alias back in 2015.

Josh first discovered the world of drum & bass through Netsky’s ‘Secret Agent’ thanks to a friend. At the time, he predominantly listened to guitar-based music, but the fast paced, feel-good nature of the genre was utterly infectious and he quickly fell in love. Inspired by labels like Hospital Records, he took it upon himself to start dabbling in the production of his own tracks. Bailey meanwhile got his first taste of 170bpm in 2008 after hearing Pendulum’s ’Tarantula’ on a local radio station. It wasn’t until 2011 when he was drawn to the sounds of artists like Blu Mar Ten and Pendulum that he too decided to make his own music. First releasing on Soulvent back in October last year, the pair recently followed up their debut track I Can’t Do (SV025) with the gorgeous Changes single (SV028), receiving support from the likes of Technimatic, BCee & TC.

With their partnership barely a year and a half old, these two are an exciting prospect, with a unique style & sound to their aural offerings. Watch this space!

Monika

New to the roster, enter UK-born, now New Zealand based Maxwell ‘Monika’ Sweeney. The 26-year old started producing about 8 years ago, after discovering his love for the genre at London’s once super-club Matter – courtesy of a Hospitality event. The near perfection in each set he heard, coupled with the sheer love shown by the crowd inspired a young Max to join this buzzing scene. After acquiring a MacBook and picking up a copy of Logic, he got to work at carving out his own sound. With his influences ranging from Machinedrum to Djrum, Om Unit to Stray the Brit-turned-Kiwi is truly only getting started in his production career.

As well as producing DnB, Max also dabbles in house production under the alias Jesse Bullitt. The multitalented individual eventually landed a track on Med School’s New Blood 014 a few years back, after a string of solid releases on Ingredients Records. Having taken a bit of a break (pun intended) from the Drum & Bass scene over the past year or two, we’re pleased to have released his debut single on Soulvent in June!

Mountain

Kamiyama Shigeta – better known to you or I as Mountain, is a drum & bass producer from the hustling hub of activity that is Osaka, Japan.

Born into a musical family Kamiyama grew up immersed in various forms of music. At age 18 he finds Dance music and after picking the basics of a DAW, he starts producing Drum and Bass under this alias. He begins DJing in his hometown too – racking up support slots for the likes of: Sigma, Netsky, London Electricity, Metrik & the beast that is Andy C.

The bright & exciting producer quickly found his first ever release, Natural Law, dropping on the iconic Hospital Records’ In The Park Album last Summer. After sending a few demos over last year, we quickly snatched the half-stepping Funk Bomb for our final Soul Sessions compilation. Having now released his first single on Soulvent earlier this month – we’re truly excited to see what music he has in store for this year!
