After just over a year since we started Soulvent, we came to our tenth release; a fairly apt snapshot of the label’s emerging sound. ‘Mesmerize’ comes from the brilliantly talented Arch Origin. Silent Audio manager Daniel Van Mourik has a vibrant and diverse style ranging from dark heavy beats to minimalistic glitchy grooves.
Title track, ‘Mesmerize’ is a prime example of the producers ability to take soulful pads, and swelling atmospherics and bring them raining down into a dark, rolling drop with crunchy basses and snappy, energetic drums.
City By night switches up this release for the more relaxed listening experience, showcasing the eclectic sound of European Drum & Bass. Melodically pleasing synths and drum machine like percussion come together to form a beautifully soothing track that could also take many a dancefloor by storm.
Five months after first being played out by Hospital newcomer Krakota on the award winning Hospital Podcast, Arch Origins amazing rework of the 2014 track ‘Awake’ by Diego Torres finally see’s the light of day. The original was a favourite amongst many DJ’s amongst the liquid D&B scene, and this fantastic remix takes the energy levels up to eleven.

At the turn of our one year anniversary; new blood was inevitable. Enter Staffordshire based producer Glaive – bringing his hard hitting, dancefloor approach to Drum & Bass.
‘All Is Not Lost’ is Glaive’s first release under the alias, and doesn’t disappoint. Gut busting bass and high energy vocals from Kate McQuaide set the tone from the off. The track has a measured interesting structure, suggesting more care than often considered in a debut. Glaive’s unique flavour is a welcome addition to the Soulvent catalogue.
Label frontrunners Pola & Bryson step up to deliver a classic liquid take on the original. A bubbling rhodes pad and soft percussive break lead us in. McQuaide’s vocals burst through with driving pads; rolling drums and solid warming baselines. Tech chops to the vocals and drums respectively make way for atmospheric pianos, pads and counter-melodies. This side of the release shows off the Duo’s ability to tackle a remix with true composure.

2015 saw Soulvent start with a brand new slice of dark Drum & Bass in the form of Data 3. Data 3 is made up of the collective efforts of 3 young West Yorkshire lads, Alex Kostyakov, Dan Hartley, and our very own Bryson.
Up first is the title track ‘Solar Space’, with its eerie, windy pads and vocal chops in the intro it builds into a massive bass heavy roller which will go down a treat for any deep Drum & Bass head.’Funk Bear’ reels you in with its glitchy, gritty intro, to then almost drop without warning into some of the most brutal basslines to have graced the Soulvent sound so far.
And finally, we join Data 3’s dubstep alias, Syrum, for bonus track ‘Space Hamsters’. A true homage to the early sounds of Dubstep that were emerging from the depths of Croydon and Big Apple Records back in the early 2000’s; ‘Space Hamsters’ is a great close to the release from the multi-faceted trio, reflecting a pivotal time for the scene, as well us here at Soulvent and our contemporaries.

Another stellar release from Soulvent co-founder Jack ‘Pola’ Higgins.
Open Arms comes in the form of a clean yet emotional roller, the smooth intro synths blending with a simple yet effective melody. Opening out into a deep drop supported by an old school vocal sample, and a moving yet reserved bass – this track is sure to warm more than a dance floors this autumn.
History, keeps up with Pola’s skill of merging both the new and the old school vibes. The dark ethereal vocals coupled with a warm pad keep you guessing, until the driving bass and old school drum break punch their way through.
All in all the man himself delivers a more than convincing 2nd release, strongly establishing his talent & versatility as a producer.

Autumn saw Soulvent go further afield than the rain stricken shores of blighty. Diego Torres, formerly one third of trio Submatik, begins his solo career with full force. This emotive and moving single came fresh from the young Belgian producer as he shifts into deep liquid Drum & Bass, with vibes sure to warm the close of our year.
Torres joins forces with the amazing vocal talent of Vincent for this soulful single. ‘Part of Me’ kicks things off with gorgeous pianos with sweeping chords before dropping into a smooth bassline with Vincent’s soothing vocals to accompany.
‘Awake’ is the accompanying B-side to ‘Part of Me’, taking the form of a classic liquid roller. With subtle rhode synths, quick percussive switches and soothing piano chords throughout.
Diego Torres effortlessly proves his place in the Soulvent family, excelling at his strengths in luscious emotive rollers.

Marking our fifth release at Soulvent Records, Bryzone (Bryson) followed up ‘Trial Run’ with ‘Portal’. The West Yorkshire man certainly stepped up the levels, with some seriously sophisticated production.
‘Portal’ is a pulsating array of synth riffs and electro-tinged melodic hooks, with an urgent drum accompaniment beneath. Slightly melancholic but still packed with energy, this one will draw you in and pull you along for the ride.
‘Wonderlight’ makes up the B-side, and here Bryson presents a more tranquil and ethereal sound. Gently resonating solo notes on the intro are given added warmth, as a series of whirring chords move the melody along. This is a dreamy yet mesmerizing collection of sounds, and Bryson layers each element with technical prowess.
Another beautifully crafted couple of tracks from the Northern producer, and a superb display of his ever growing sound.

Our fourth release came from Jack ‘Pola’ Higgins, a co founder of Soulvent, and one third of the label’s personnel. His debut release ‘Sound Killa’ blends new and old influences well – mixing warm liquid tones with an old school beat. The well rounded roller features a well-known jungle sample alongside surging drum progressions and rave-style piano chords.
Meanwhile ‘Little Do I Know’ is quite the change of pace. Featuring vocals provided by none other than Pola himself, it also features label mate Bryzone (Bryson). A stirring and atmospheric track, Pola blends melancholic chords with a gritty live drum sound to deliver a fitting B side to a beautifully balanced single.
These are two sophisticated pieces of work from producer and Pola, who has gained a nod of approval from the likes of Etherwood and Logistics, and the release began paving the way for a blossoming production partnership between himself and Harry Bryson.

Having been introduced into the drum and bass community with his debut release for Soulvent in February, BMotion now brings his second single to the label.
A-side ‘All My Love’ is an upbeat and glossily fluid track featuring the expressive vocals of Jon Lilygreen, BMotion using Lilygreen’s rounded vocals in waves alongside dreamy chord sequences and a series of dynamic drops.
The B-side ‘Reflections’ is a beautifully contrasting track full of languid, summery tones. A stripped back yet distinctive introduction captures a simplistic yet resonating guitar and piano riff sequence, before progressing to an emotive climax. Bringing in snatches of rolling vocals and stirring drum patterns (recorded live by BMotion himself); this is your summer evening soundtrack.
Beginning to firmly establish his artistic style of production within the scene, this release again highlights this multi talented Welshman’s capabilities.
