We host three labels pushing the drum & bass scene forwards as Spearhead, Flexout Audio and Soulvent land. In Room One, Spearhead rep the musical side of the genre with a host of the label’s closest affiliates set to join label founder BCee. Joining him is Alix Perez, whose glistening productions can be found on labels like Shogun Audio and Exit. In recent years he’s turned his focus to his own 1985 Music imprint, where he pushes a similar strain of deep and rolling 170BPM. He’s flanked by Etherwood, the London producer best known for his ties to Med School. His work for Hospital’s sister label showcases his unique grasp on D&B, drawing influence from hard-and-fast jungle, floating ambient and downtempo tones. Rising talent Sweetpea also displays her cutting-edge take on the genre, while the bill is rounded off by two artists with a lot of promise, Airshots and Lens. Cleveland Watkiss, LX One and Texas step up on hosting duties.

Room Two welcomes Flexout Audio. The local imprint has firmly made its mark on the UK’s drum & bass scene since its inception in 2011, something the crew showed us at their high-charged Room Three debut in 2018. This time, they bring their instrumental-inclined sound to Room Two, with a series of back-to-back sets as the night’s focus: Dispatch artist Fre4knc faces off with Flexout staples QZB and Arkaik, while Bredren and Philth also share the decks. Amoss link up with Survey, Charli Brix and Bassi join forces, while Data 3 finally rounds off the bill. Joe Raygun and Sense share the mic.

Soulvent Records are back in Room Three, inviting their usual cast of next generation talents. Last time we welcomed the crew they took over the space for their milestone 5th birthday celebrations, and their next takeover promises more of the same blend of futurist liquid funk and upfront D&B. Preparing for his EC1 debut is Terror, who lines up against Jolliffe. In:Most, Walk:r, Dilemma, the team’s residents, Siege and Paleblu all prepare to return to round off a weighty FABRICLIVE celebrating the current and future of drum & bass.

Bryan Gee’s V Recordings is one of the most respected drum & bass labels on the planet. Their output has created some of the most iconic – and charging – records in DNB history. In fact, they’re an important part of our history too – hosting a room at the first FABRICLIVE DNB event back when we first opened our doors in 1999. For their Room One takeover in 2019, they have put together a staggering collection of the sound’s pioneers with Randall and Adam F touching down, plus Ed Rush & Optical playing a set of Virus classics. The label have maintained their edge picking out new talent with some of their newer signings also set to be part of the night with Alibi & Command Strange, Paul T & Edward Oberon, Benny L and Ruffstuff also set to feature.

A label with close ties to V and one that also holds a high place in the heritage of drum n bass’ story in the UK – Philly Blunt Records takes charge of the Pioneer Pro Audio system in Room Two. With a line-up starred with the originating forces of rave culture, Jumpin Jack Frost, Serum, Bladerunner, Ray Keith, Saxxon, Think Tonk and Uncle Dugs will see that this room will bear witness to a fearsome blend of jungle, bass and bashment. Get ready for an all round masterclass in working a sound system.

Taking over in Room Three is a label who have been marking out their own place in the scene with an ear for the latest in liquid forms of 170BPM sonics – Soulvent Records will be celebrating their 5th birthday tonight. They are set to show us what the next generation of producers bring on the decks with a series of sets from their roster of emerging talent inviting Pola & Bryson, In:Most, Data 3, Dilemma, Jolliffe and Mike Drop to perform.

4th Birthday Party!

So we’ve entered our fourth year of Soulvent Records, and boy has time flown. Soulvent was started with the intention of creating a digital music outlet where talented friends and peers could showcase their music.

From a few pints between 3 of us at a secret Brick Lane boozer back in late 2013, our imprint is growing into its own entity and it’s truly exciting. It’s such a pleasure for us all to watch hard work and mutual respect pay off, within a scene built on a true love for music.

4 years later and we’re still here, growing stronger every day! We’ve dropped 36 releases (that’s 149 tracks) from 82 producers, vocalists and remixers, spanning 14 countries. We’re still blown away by the support we receive from fans and friends.

So to celebrate our birthday in true fashion, we’ve hand picked some of our favourite players in the game, old and new friends alike, to shell down North London’s grittiest, sweatiest venue and we welcome you all to join us for the party!

Tickets are only available on the night at the door at this limited capacity venue for 5 pounds and once they’re gone, they really are gone – so make sure you get down early for this.

Lineup to be announced over the coming weeks so stay tuned! Thanks for all the love!

The Soulvent Team!

Simon Says 2017

Simon Says Local is our first East London fundraiser to remember and celebrate the life of the wonderful Simon Goss – son, husband, dad, mentor, social worker, record label boss, DJ and late of this parish.

Simon was tragically taken from us by lung cancer, only 10 weeks after his diagnosis, having just turned 44. Simon liked a pint or 3 and when we moved to Leytonstone from Hackney, almost exactly 10 years ago, the Red Lion was a pub and club venue called Zulus. We certainly had the odd night out there (sometimes very odd!) but it wasn’t really Simon’s cup of tea.

When Zulus closed, the site stood empty for a couple of years and Simon often talked about what he would do with the space if he had the money. A community hub, great food, somewhere you could take your kids (he sat outside pubs, A LOT, when his own kids were young!), an affordable club space and DJ’s meeting a wide range of tastes (though having been a resident DJ at Camden’s Jazz Café for 5 years, he was a soul, jazz, funk and hip hop boy at heart!)

Apart from the fact that he would have had family members doing the catering (!!), his vision was pretty close to what Antic have achieved with the Red Lion. Sadly, Simon didn’t live to see it, so it seems only right and proper for all of those who knew and loved him and a whole bunch of new Simon Goss fans to have a knees up in his local in his honour!!

So please join us for a most marvellous night of back to back local live music and DJ’s, including Simon’s House Band, the Wah Wah 45s Players, featuring his sons Tom and Joe. Everyone involved gives their time and talent for free, so every penny you pay for your ticket goes to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, for whom we have raised over £50K in Simon’s memory. We promise you will have a ball and you won’t even need to get a cab home!! (and don’t forget your flat cap!)
