Marking our fifth release at Soulvent Records, Bryzone (Bryson) followed up ‘Trial Run’ with ‘Portal’. The West Yorkshire man certainly stepped up the levels, with some seriously sophisticated production.
‘Portal’ is a pulsating array of synth riffs and electro-tinged melodic hooks, with an urgent drum accompaniment beneath. Slightly melancholic but still packed with energy, this one will draw you in and pull you along for the ride.
‘Wonderlight’ makes up the B-side, and here Bryson presents a more tranquil and ethereal sound. Gently resonating solo notes on the intro are given added warmth, as a series of whirring chords move the melody along. This is a dreamy yet mesmerizing collection of sounds, and Bryson layers each element with technical prowess.
Another beautifully crafted couple of tracks from the Northern producer, and a superb display of his ever growing sound.

Our fourth release came from Jack ‘Pola’ Higgins, a co founder of Soulvent, and one third of the label’s personnel. His debut release ‘Sound Killa’ blends new and old influences well – mixing warm liquid tones with an old school beat. The well rounded roller features a well-known jungle sample alongside surging drum progressions and rave-style piano chords.
Meanwhile ‘Little Do I Know’ is quite the change of pace. Featuring vocals provided by none other than Pola himself, it also features label mate Bryzone (Bryson). A stirring and atmospheric track, Pola blends melancholic chords with a gritty live drum sound to deliver a fitting B side to a beautifully balanced single.
These are two sophisticated pieces of work from producer and Pola, who has gained a nod of approval from the likes of Etherwood and Logistics, and the release began paving the way for a blossoming production partnership between himself and Harry Bryson.

Having been introduced into the drum and bass community with his debut release for Soulvent in February, BMotion now brings his second single to the label.
A-side ‘All My Love’ is an upbeat and glossily fluid track featuring the expressive vocals of Jon Lilygreen, BMotion using Lilygreen’s rounded vocals in waves alongside dreamy chord sequences and a series of dynamic drops.
The B-side ‘Reflections’ is a beautifully contrasting track full of languid, summery tones. A stripped back yet distinctive introduction captures a simplistic yet resonating guitar and piano riff sequence, before progressing to an emotive climax. Bringing in snatches of rolling vocals and stirring drum patterns (recorded live by BMotion himself); this is your summer evening soundtrack.
Beginning to firmly establish his artistic style of production within the scene, this release again highlights this multi talented Welshman’s capabilities.

Release number two for Soulvent saw the rise of another gifted young producer by the name of Harry Bryson, formerly known as Bryzone. Having traded a two letter name change for simply his surname in early 2015, Harry stepped up offering two glistening pieces of liquid, truly in keeping with a developing Soulvent sound.
‘Trial Run’ is beautifully subtle vocal-led track, with sun-soaked piano riffs matched by the soft sounds of Jenny Mayhem’s sparkling vocals. A rolling jungle-style sub bass and snappy percussion serve a perfect home for Mayhem’s airy narrative melodies, counterpointed with piano toplines. The pair truly prove that sometimes less is more.
B-side ‘Stargaze’ teases a slighter darker sound while maintaining continuity. A haunting piano build gives way to a undercurrent of strings and evocative use of piano once again capture Bryson’s sophisticated level of production.

We kick started our journey in Early 2014, with an incredible single from the Welsh talent that is 22 year old Ben ‘BMotion’ Williams.
The A-side ‘Circles’ breaks in full of energy with a lively, upbeat intro full of 80’s style synths and glossy pop-esque vocals courtesy of Jon Lilygreen. The filtered up intro leaves us in a ‘pre-drop’ which is rather measured, yet definitely makes the real drop worth it’s weight. BMotion demonstrates his penchant for pulsating, chunky basslines which are a powerful part of his production. Leading into a massive drop, his background as a jazz drummer is truly demonstrated in his ability to create a juggernaught-like momentum anywhere from his drum builds, synth runs, or vocal chops. With an unassuming structure and intricate melodies, equally matched by Jon’s impressive falsetto, ‘Circles’ has a bit of fun with an often overly serious genre.
‘Need Your Love’ on the flipside offers a deeper, more unconventional take on liquid Drum and Bass. A rolling rhythmic start, bathed in white noise introduces a catchy guitar lick, which is effortlessly converted into a synth top line. This hectic build up sees in clicky snares, rumbling subs and plucky synths – yet doesn’t seem too busy. Attention is held with the opening out of the synth melody, and engrossing luscious pads.
With support from UKF, Rinse FM and BBC 1Xtra, BMotion brings a fresh outlook on Drum and Bass, and a great first chapter in the Soulvent Records tale.
