Vektah
Lawrence Bachell aka Vektah is a 24 year old electronic music producer & DJ, hailing from the South West of England. His output predominantly resides within drum & bass, although his talents are not limited to that, as he enjoys producing music across a variety of tempos. This young producer draws influence from all corners and sub-genres of the drum & bass scene and his tracks bear recognisable trademarks from other genres such as reggae, house, techno & hip hop. Pure energy is a staple to his sound and complements the catchy riffs, big booming subs and hard hitting drums that can be heard throughout his productions.
After releasing music with two different artist names prior to Vektah, he now relishes the opportunity of a fresh start. Prior achievements include support from the well respected brand Skankandbass and also reaching 37 in the Beatport top 100 Drum & Bass sales charts. He has also performed DJ sets for esteemed brands such as Outlook Festival, V Recordings, and Enter Drumfunk.
2021 saw in his debut release titled ‘Fire In Your Eyes’, a squelching, yet smooth introduction to the newest chapter in his musical journey. The release received notable support from the likes of Levela, Charli Brix and the legend that is DJ Marky. This was the first of a string of self releases set to drop across the year, while he carefully builds his back catalogue. He quickly followed it up with ‘Request’ released on the ‘Tonics: Batch 1’ VA EP that was released on Soulvent Records back in May. The tune opens with luscious, swirling synths which quickly descend into honks of incoming bass, jungle breaks and ragga vocals which will almost certainly have you shouting at your nearest DJ, demanding them to “run it”.
His debut 4-track EP ‘Culture Shift’ is set to drop on the 30th of July, and has already gained notable support from the likes of Bladerunner and LTJ Bukem. The talented producer also has further collaborations in the pipeline with affiliates of Hospital Records, Metalheadz, Shogun Audio and more. One thing that is clear, is that Lawrence’s trajectory bears no signs of veering off course, if the consistency of his varied and hard-hitting output is anything to go by.
